"Five and a half years ago at the playground Keegan spotted a bunch of kids from a taekwondo summer camp. Curious as ever, he went over and talked to them and thus began our journey with taekwondo. Our family has been changed in countless positive ways by taekwondo. Most of the friends we've made after we moved were made through our involvement with taekwondo and now they're like family. My kids have learned lessons in perseverance, self-control, respect, kindness, hard work and resilience."

I’d like to share with you one of our proudest programs — the Little Lion Program.
This program is specially designed for children ages (2)3 to 5. It’s not just martial arts training — it’s a comprehensive developmental journey that helps children grow physically, mentally, and socially in a safe and fun environment.
Each week, classes are built around a different topic, giving children the opportunity to explore new skills while learning through Taekwondo movements, games, and role-play. Parents often tell us that this program helps lay a strong foundation for their child’s future.
Why We Created the Little Lion Program
At Lion Martial Arts, we understand that early childhood is the most important stage of development. Children at this age are still exploring the world, and learning the right habits now builds a foundation that lasts a lifetime.
While Taekwondo traditionally emphasizes discipline and physical fitness, young children need more. That’s why we developed a program that supports whole-child growth — body, mind, and character.
The name “Little Lion” reflects our vision: for every child to grow up brave and strong like a lion, but also kind, wise, and respectful.
Classes are short and engaging — 30 minutes, once or twice a week — so children stay focused without getting overwhelmed. Each week’s topic introduces a new learning experience while reinforcing Taekwondo basics.
Weekly Topics: Building Blocks for Development
The heart of the Little Lion Program is our weekly themes. These topics are carefully selected based on proven child development principles (inspired by Piaget’s cognitive stages and Montessori methods).
Here are our 8 core topics, which rotate in cycles:
Memory: Children practice remembering Taekwondo sequences like “Basic Stance 1-2-3,” improving both brain development and school-readiness skills.
Teamwork: Through group drills and relay games, kids learn cooperation, sharing, and empathy.
Control: Children practice powerful kicks and then stop on command, building self-regulation and emotional control. Parents often notice fewer tantrums and better focus at home.
Fitness: Fun exercises like stretching, jumping, and running games build strength, endurance, and lifelong healthy habits.
Coordination: Activities that combine hand and foot movements (like balancing while tossing a ball) support motor skill development.
Balance: Games such as standing on one foot or rolling safely on mats improve confidence, stability, and body awareness.
Focus: Breathing exercises and mindful attention help kids build concentration.
Discipline: The foundation of every class — learning to follow rules, respect others, and manage themselves with pride.
Each cycle lasts 8 weeks, and by the end, we assess children’s progress. After two cycles, students are ready for a belt stripe test that motivates them to keep growing!
Learning Through Fun and Structure
Our classes are playful and exciting — but also grounded in clear structure and respect. Discipline and manners are woven into every lesson.
Here are some of our classroom rules:
Wear the uniform: Builds belonging and pride.
Always greet respectfully: “Hello, Sir!” or “Hello, Ma’am!” to show courtesy.
Use good manners: “Please” and “Thank you” are expected.
Take off shoes on the mat: Teaches cleanliness and safety.
Ask permission: Before leaving for water or the restroom.
Respect parents: At the end of class, children thank their parents for their love and support.
Our motto is simple:
“Discipline is key. Respect is key.”
Parent Feedback & Real Results
Parents consistently share heartwarming stories:
“My child used to be shy, but thanks to Little Lion, she’s gained confidence and made friends.”
“His focus and listening skills improved not only in class but also at home and school.”
Research also supports this: studies show martial arts training enhances brain activity in the frontal lobe, which supports learning and self-control.
More Than Just Taekwondo
The Little Lion Program is more than a martial arts class. It’s a place for children to laugh, learn, and grow. Each week’s topic nurtures different aspects of development, while discipline and respect shape lifelong values.
If you dream of a bright and confident future for your child, we invite you to visit our school and try a free trial class.
