โI love Teakwondo. It taught my daughter a lot of things, and I love the fact that she has the best teacher, Master Woo. He is great with all the kids. And you can see he really loves his job.โ

"Five and a half years ago at the playground Keegan spotted a bunch of kids from a taekwondo summer camp. Curious as ever, he went over and talked to them and thus began our journey with taekwondo. Our family has been changed in countless positive ways by taekwondo. Most of the friends we've made after we moved were made through our involvement with taekwondo and now they're like family. My kids have learned lessons in perseverance, self-control, respect, kindness, hard work and resilience."

Little Lions, just thinking about the words makes me laugh because it makes me think about my students. It is one of the most difficult but happiest classes. When children grow up to be close to three years old, mom and dad come to our dojang to have them educated.ย
Children come to the dojang for physical development, as well as their interest and social skills, but some parents often come to the dojang because their children are having a hard time with them. It seems like the kids aren't listening, but there's a reason.
Children around 3 to 4 years old often start asserting their independence, which can sometimes look like not listening. This is a normal part of their development and can be influenced by several factors:
1. Developing Independence
At this age, children start realizing they have their own thoughts and choices. They want to do things their way, which sometimes means ignoring instructions.
2. Testing Boundaries
Kids push limits to see what happens when they donโt listen. Theyโre learning about cause and effect and how much control they have over their world.
3. Seeking Attention
Sometimes, children refuse to listen because they want more attentionโwhether positive or negative. If they feel ignored, they might act out to get a reaction.
4. Overstimulation or Fatigue
If a child is tired, hungry, or overwhelmed, they may struggle to focus and follow directions.
5. Difficulty Processing Instructions
At this stage, childrenโs brains are still developing. If instructions are too complex or given in a rushed manner, they might not fully understand or remember them.
6. Need for More Engagement
If an activity or request isnโt interesting, they may ignore it. Children respond better when instructions are fun, engaging, or connected to their interests.
7. Emotional Development
Children around this age are still learning how to regulate their emotions. If they feel frustrated, upset, or excited, they might struggle to listen in the moment.
The most important thing we consider for them is good manners. The goal is not just to force it, but to create that atmosphere and repetition. Through this, children's attitude will be corrected, and their behavior will change.ย
We are working hard to talk and teach from their perspective and create more interesting teaching methods. I say this every time, but the most important thing is love. We love them.
