"Five and a half years ago at the playground Keegan spotted a bunch of kids from a taekwondo summer camp. Curious as ever, he went over and talked to them and thus began our journey with taekwondo. Our family has been changed in countless positive ways by taekwondo. Most of the friends we've made after we moved were made through our involvement with taekwondo and now they're like family. My kids have learned lessons in perseverance, self-control, respect, kindness, hard work and resilience."

A Story of Lion Martial Arts Taekwondo Recently, at our dojang, we are seeing not only new students beginning Taekwondo, but also children coming from other schools and those who quietly return after taking a short break.
A few days ago, one student who had moved away and could no longer train with us stopped by New Jersey for a visit and came to see the dojang happily with their parents. They did not come in uniform to train, yet simply sharing warm smiles and greetings filled our hearts with deep joy. In that moment, one thought became clearer than ever:
“This place has truly become a second home for these children.”
Why Do We Teach Taekwondo? Sometimes I ask myself: Why do we teach Taekwondo? Is it to make children kick higher? To help them earn a black belt? To win competitions?
Of course, those things matter. But as time passes, one reason becomes more and more certain: We are here to stand beside the place where a child’s heart grows.
Growth That Cannot Be Seen Time spent in the dojang is more than just exercise.
A child who once greeted us in a tiny voice one day says “Thank you” with confidence. A child who used to give up quickly steps back in line and tries again. Eyes once filled with uncertainty begin to shine little by little. This change cannot be measured by belt color or the number of medals. Yet it is undeniably real—quiet but deep, slow yet certain.
What We Value the Most Another essential part of our philosophy is teaching children to show true respect to their parents, siblings, and everyone around them.
We believe respect is not just a formality. Through a simple greeting, children learn to center their hearts and set their mindset. One greeting shapes an attitude, and that attitude eventually shapes a person’s character.
We also teach children to give their very best effort in everything they do. More important than results is the experience of trying until the end without giving up. Through this process, children learn to believe in themselves. This is the most important value in our dojang. That Is Why We Wear Our Uniforms Today We hope our students grow strong without becoming harsh, gain confidence without arrogance, and learn to rise again after falling. With that single hope, we stand in the same place each day to welcome them. And even if time passes—if they move away or take a break— we want this to remain a place they can open the door and return to, a place that always feels like home. That is the space we strive to be.

This is not just a place to learn Taekwondo. It is a home where we build the time of growth together. Children’s laughter and sweat, their challenges and even their tears, and the moments they rise again slowly warm this place. And so we believe: The small training of today will one day become great strength in their lives. Slowly, yet clearly. Joyfully, yet deeply. This is the path
Lion Martial Arts Taekwondo
continues to walk—together with our students.
