"Five and a half years ago at the playground Keegan spotted a bunch of kids from a taekwondo summer camp. Curious as ever, he went over and talked to them and thus began our journey with taekwondo. Our family has been changed in countless positive ways by taekwondo. Most of the friends we've made after we moved were made through our involvement with taekwondo and now they're like family. My kids have learned lessons in perseverance, self-control, respect, kindness, hard work and resilience."

| Master Wooโs Story|
One of the most common questions parents ask when their child starts Taekwondo is:
โWhat will actually change?โย
Taekwondo is not just about kicks and forms. It is a full-body discipline that builds balance, coordination, and strength.
As the body changes, the mind follows and when the mind changes, the way we approach life changes too. Children who train consistently gain confidence. They become comfortable with physical challenges, less affected by intimidation, and more focused in school and daily life.
They learn persistence.
They learn not to quit when things get hard.
They learn what it means to truly try.
Why I Started Taekwondo
When I was young, the public school environment in Korea was very different. Bullying often went unchecked. Teachers and parents could not always intervene effectively. In that environment, children had two choices: remain vulnerable or grow stronger. My father understood this reality and encouraged me to start Taekwondo. But the moment that truly changed me came when a close friend and I got into a conflict.
He punched me in the face. And I did nothing not because I didnโt want to fight back, but because I didnโt know how. That feeling of helplessness stayed with me. I realized then that strength is not about hurting others. It is about not freezing in moments of fear. That was when my Taekwondo journey truly began. How Taekwondo Changes Children.ย
At our dojang, we regularly survey parents to understand how their children change through training. The answers are remarkably consistent: Improved respect toward parentsย
Better behavior and discipline at school
Stronger understanding of rules in sports
Increased confidence
Emerging leadership qualities
These changes donโt happen overnight.
They come from small, repeated habits bowing, waiting, following structure, failing and trying again. Over time, these habits shape character.
The Greatest Gift Taekwondo Gave Me.
If there is one thing I can confidently say from my own life, it is that Taekwondo helped me become the leader of my own life. It taught me that what matters most is not how others treat me, but how I choose to stand in the world. Whether I fall or rise again that choice is mine.
That is the true power of Taekwondo.
Taekwondo does not tell children,
โBe strong.โ
It teaches them something deeper:
โYou already have potential.
And you are responsible for becoming who you are meant to be.โ
